So you want to be a photographer?
The industry has changed a LOT in the last few decades. Digital photography has totally changed the game. Every man and his dog seems to have a Facebook page where they have laid out their shingle as a working photographer. And let’s face it. Anyone can be a photographer. You don’t NEED a license or a certificate.
What you DO need are the SKILLS. There are still MANY opportunities for a career in photography, but now more than ever, you need to RISE ABOVE THE CROWD, and you need a flexible, contemporary education.
TAFE and on the job training have been the traditional paths to a photography career, but photography jobs are as rare as hens teeth, and do you really want to invest $13,000 or more for a ONE-YEAR Diploma, where you will be on a fixed schedule that doesn’t take into consideration your lifestyle and family obligations, where you study from the ground up, regardless of what you already know, and cover all sorts of areas you aren’t interested in?
There is another way!
iTeachPhotographers offers the ZERO TO HERO program, a fully customisable program of one on one personalised photography tuition, designed to work in with your skills, your needs, and your ambitions. This program is delivered by a professional photographer and certified trainer with both communication and photography qualifications, over 30 years’ experience shooting and over a decade’s teaching experience.

Wedding & Domestic Photography
plus much more…
Stacy is a mum with two small children. She is planning the next phase of her life, when her kids start going to school, and she has decided she wants to be a professional photographer. Her chosen area is wedding and domestic photography.
She has taken a beginner’s course and she has the basics firmly under her belt, but she is not sure what the next step is. She has considered iTPs Intermediate Course, which she thinks looks great, but she wants more than that. She has also considered TAFE, but the hours are fixed and don’t suit her childcare obligations, and it seems awfully expensive for a program that used to be a 2-year Diploma for $6,000 and is now a 1-year Diploma for $13,000. She realises that as she was considering investing as much as $13,000 into her new career, she can shop around. She looks at some online courses, but they are expensive, too open-ended and she’s a bit unsure about online courses generally, and really wants the personal touch.
She has already taken a Beginner Course with iTP, and thinks Geoff is an excellent teacher and is very passionate and knowledgeable. So she then looks at Zero to Hero, and gets in touch and asks what sort of program could be developed for her budget.
She is offered a program spanning 9 months, with weekly sessions, along with fieldwork, homework, assignments and email and phone support for the duration, She will also have the opportunity to assist on shoots, get studio experience, and meet some working professionals in her chosen field for tips and support. The sessions are flexible, meet her needs, and cater to her existing knowledge. Having done some design and web work, areas like building a website and marketing and some composition studies can be left out, and the course can be focussed on her primary needs of camera skills, lighting, digital workflow, and editing.
She accepts the offer, and starts on her journey from ZERO TO HERO! Go Stacy!!
